We've answered the most common questions across our three pillars (Art, Wellness, and Brand Collaboration) and included important info on sustainability, bundles, shipping, and creative use.

8. Product Basics

What is the Karving Kanvas made from and how does it work?

The Karving Kanvas is a 3mm A4 sheet composed of seven distinct layered strata - two outer black and white seal layers, and five vivid colour layers in between.
As you “karve” into the surface using a handheld tool, you reveal these hidden colours - creating bold, tactile, multi-layered artwork without paint or mess.
Future ranges will include more colours and additional layers.

Is the Karving Kanvas safe for children? What’s the recommended age range?

Yes, the Kanvas is safe when used with supervision.
We recommend it for ages 13+, as karving tools can be sharp and require coordination.
It's perfect for teens and adults seeking creative, mindful expression.

How long does a single sheet last with typical use?

One A4 Karving Kanvas can provide hours(or even days!) of creative engagement depending on how patient and detailed your process is.
It's an immersive journey that can be revisited over time, especially with more complex designs.

Can I purchase extra sheets or tool sets separately?

Unfortunately not.
Currently, Karvaura products are only available as complete bundles.
You can choose between our two curated bundle options, which include both the sheet and tools.

What tools are compatible or recommended for karving?

We recommend lino carving tools such as the Essdee 5-in-1 set, which includes various blade types and is bundled in our kits. These tools are also available at most major art stores.

7. How to Use & Care

Do I need to prep the surface or apply any coatings before use?

No prep needed. The Kanvas is ready to use straight out of the box. Just grab your tool and start karving.

Can I erase or undo a karve once I’ve started?

Nope!
Like carving or engraving, each mark is permanent. But this is part of the mindfulness journey - there’s no ‘wrong’ move.

How should I store or display my finished Kanvas?

Store flat, away from direct heat or sunlight. To display, frame it like a relief artwork or place it upright on a desk stand.
Each finished Kanvas is a one-of-a-kind piece.

What’s included in the standard bundle and add-on options?

The standard Karving Kanvas bundle includes one A4 Karving Kanvas, an A6 practice sheet (quarter-sized A4) - all in a premium tray-and-sleeve box!
Add-ons include a UV-printed illustration (Karve-by-Colour) and a 5-in-1 carving tool set.

6. Orders & Shipping

Where do you ship from, and which carriers do you use?

Orders are fulfilled and shipped from Midrand, South Africa.
We use BobGo as our fulfillment partner, which connects to trusted national couriers for local delivery.
International orders are shipped via TUNL and its global partners (e.g., FedEx and other logistics providers).

How long does shipping take within South Africa and internationally?

Orders are fulfilled from Midrand within 1–3 business days. Domestic shipping takes 1–3 business days in major city centers and 3–5 days in outlying areas. Express shipping is available on request. International shipping takes 7–14 business days depending on destination and customs. Delays may occur with the Karve-by-Colour range if stock runs low, but we aim to hold inventory at all times.

Do you ship globally, and what are the costs?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Quick checkout is available in South Africa with manual payments required for international orders.
Shipping fees are calculated at checkout. Please contact us for assistance with alternative payment options or bulk orders.

How do I track my order, and what do I do if it hasn’t arrived?

You'll receive a tracking link via email once your order ships. If you haven’t received your parcel within 10 business days (SA) or 21 days (international), please contact us.

5. Returns, Refunds & Damage

What is your return and refund policy?

Returns are accepted for eligible items per the conditions listed on our Refunds Policy page. Please refer to the website for our current return periods and requirements. Karve-by-Colour bundles are refundable only within South Africa, subject to evaluation.

My order arrived damaged - what should I do?

Please email us footage within 48 hours of delivery. Damage to packaging alone is not refundable - please contact the courier directly. Insurance is available at checkout as an optional surcharge for customers who would like coverage.

Can I exchange a product if I ordered the wrong design or colour variant?

Yes - subject to evaluation and if the product is unopened and returned within the allowed return window. You’ll be responsible for return shipping and the reshipping.

4. Custom, Corporate & B2B

Can I request a custom Karving Kanvas design?

Yes. We offer custom UV-printed designs for events, gifting, or collaborations. Lead time and minimum order quantities apply. Design fees may also apply.

Do you offer bulk pricing or B2B rates?

Yes. Bulk order volume promotion (10+ units) qualify for discounts. We want to encourage others to be entrepreneurs with our product. Contact us for a quote.

Can I book a Karvaura experience (e.g., workshop or activation)?

Yes! We offer kits or facilitated sessions for schools, teams, wellness programs, and more. Email us to plan your event.

3. Wellness & Workshops

Has the Karving Kanvas been used in wellness or therapy programs?

Not yet. However, at our Hobby-X launch we received strong interest from occupational therapists, art therapists, and wellness professionals. The product shows great potential for these applications and we’re actively exploring partnerships. Reach out if you are interested!

Can I host a Karving Kanvas session in my wellness or therapy space?

Yes! Contact us to co-design a program for your group, practice, or retreat.

Are there creative events or public workshops I can join?

Yes. Watch our Instagram and website for updates on drop-ins, guided workshops, or creative challenges.

2. Sustainability & Impact

What is the Karvaura waste collection initiative?

We ask customers to save their karving waste at home - there is no pouch provided yet. In the future, we will include designated waste containers and announce when we are ready to receive shipments. Incentive programs will be introduced to encourage participation!

How should I store and return my waste?

Please keep your s(h)avings in a clean container until we release our updated packaging. We will notify you when returns are open or collection points are available.

Are Karving Kanvas sheets eco-friendly or biodegradable?

Not yet. While the sheets are durable and low-waste, they are not currently biodegradable. We are actively researching sustainable alternatives.

Do you report on sustainability progress?

We’re building a sustainability dashboard to share stats on waste collected, reused, or safely discarded. Updates will be published annually.

What are you doing to reduce waste and packaging impact?

We use minimal plastic, recyclable cardboard packaging, and will include reusable waste containers in future kits. We are committed to reducing packaging impact while maintaining quality.

How can I collaborate with Karvaura as an artist?

We’re always open to working with independent artists. If you’d like to propose a concept or collaborate on a Karving Kanvas design, send us a message or pitch via our site or socials.

Do you have an affiliate or ambassador program?

Yes. Affiliates earn commission and gain early access. Artist collaborators receive fair revenue share and full credit.

Will artists be credited in promotions?

Yes. We promote and tag artists we collaborate with across our platforms and product listings.
